Nomadic tents in Mongolia

Data

Mongolia

Year built:

1998

14 kWp

Description

Mongolia is extremely sparsely populated and this coupled with vast distances between towns make a country-wide public grid impossible.

But off-the-grid solar installations help. In conjunction with the Bavarian Cooperation Project GERSOL, various systems were developed and delivered including direct current electricity systems for hundreds of gers (nomadic tents) and alternating current electricity systems for a hospital and six first aid stations.

They now produce solar energy for outer Mongolia.
